  Hi surusue, I hope your hot flushes have improved a bit since the weather has cooled down. I get them from Tamoxifen. My doctor referred me to the Menopausal Symptoms After Cancer Clinic at King Edward. They were very helpful. Nights are hard with all the flicking the bed covers off and then on and then off ...

  50YO wife+mother. DX Nov'10, 7mm grade 2 tumour + DCIS + LCIS. Nodes clear, wide local incision, margins clear. Rads Feb/March'11+ Tamoxifen

  Mine aren't so bad so far. I am sorry you have to experience these very inconvenient and exasperating discomforts. I hope someone else who joins click can give you some good tips.

  I went to the doctor after feeling a lump aged 29. After ultrasounds, mammograms, over 5 fine needle aspirations and 7 core biopsy samples (all samples were positive). I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had a double mastectomy and right axillary clearance. I also had tissue expanders inserted for reconstruction. A month after surgery I started my chemo regime consisting of AC fortnightly for 4 doses then Paclitaxel and Herceptin weekly for 12wks and Carboplatin every 3wks. 2months after chemo finished I completed 6wks of radiation. I am still receiving Herceptin. (12mths) After my first chemo I had an infusa port inserted under the skin through day surgery as I hate needles and it really helped me cope with everything. When my Herceptin is finished I have one more surgery to remove the Tissue Expanders which have been inflated to a good size and replace them with permanent implants. I am also getting my port removed and an abdominal hernia repaired (may as well do everything as I'm not planning anymore general anathestics for a while). With 4 young girls (2 @school, 2@home) this has been a long process we are all looking forward to putting well into the past. We did however celebrate recently with our first family holiday to Bali for 2weeks which was a much needed break for the whole family :)

  Married 30 YO mother of 4 girls. Grade 3B. Double Mastectomy, right clearance with 7/25 nodes +. Est & Prog Neg, Her2+. Treatment:6mths chemo, 6wks radio and 12mths Herceptin. Tired:(

  Wow Sally you sure had a lot of treatment which must have taken a long time. I'm glad you had the holiday in Bali. I saw a lady last week who had double breast reconstruction who was extremely happy with the results. I saw them and they looked great. I wish this for you too.
