  Phoebe Life is getting hard, all I ever go out for seems to be Medical appointments,or medically related. Have to rely heavily on Silver Chain home help and nursing, and other HACC funded services, pluss my house- mate/helper/"boyfriend?" who is verbally abusive. He has a degenerative bone disease from birth,"Ancalizing Spondolitis" (sorry can not spell all medical terms) but is quite active and mobile 13 years my junior.My world is getting smaller. The rest of the day will be better, just a bit down with all the results from recent scans( Orthopaedic) very serious degeneration, keeps coming back from MRIs, X Ray's, CT's. I want to live life.

  Single woman no kids, Breast Ca diagnosed 2003, lumpectomy (problematic not enough clearance around tumour so surgeon went in again after 2 weeks),auxiliary clearance, chemo, radiation, Tamoxifen for 5 yrs. at the time I went on Tamoxifen I came out in psoriasis which remains a problem.

  Reconstruction 2006- Lapidimus Dorsi (back muscle used for flesh to rebuild breast) on second recon, the first recon  was a big mess !!

  Squamous Cell Ca on vocal chord diagnosed 2005,surgery, more surgery, radiation, more surgery, currently have lump on vocal chord being checked 6 weekly (probably damage from radiation) I am refusing further surgery on throat to preserve what is left of my voice! Long journey.

  Hello Phoebe, I understand how health issues can overtake your life. I go to movies with a 'movie friend' - always morning sessions on a Mon or Tues and we often get the theater mostly to ourselves. We also wait a week or two after the movie has started. Perhaps you can consider this when you're feeling OK to go out. You mentioned you're interested in gardening and there are many lovely garden groups around Perth you may be interested in. Assuming you live in Perth. Good onya for ditching Tamoxifen - I did too so did a few I know. Treatment at all costs isn't an option for me. Enjoy your day, Sue xx

  Hi Phoebe & Sue, can i ask why you ditched Tamoxifen? as i have just started taking it

  47YO mother of 2 teenagers, Grade 3 Tumour diagnoised 25th March 3days before my birthday!!...Had lumpectomy on the 10th April & total Auxillary Clearance  7/32 

  28 rounds of Radiation & surgery in January

  I ditched Tamoxifen Liz68 because I found the side effects just too 'difficult' for me. I have also ditched everolimus after 41 days. Its an intensely personal decision for us after we weigh up the costs. I am almost 70 and live alone. Health excellent. Its not an easy decision.

  I did the full five years of Temoxifen(very bad skin reactions that did not go away when I stopped but did improve heaps) but refused further oestrogen blockers as some are bad for bones. Every body reacts differently it seems after talking to many people. Phoebe
