  Hi my name is Lea,I am a widow,having lost my dear husband in March ,and then found out that I Had a lump in my breast that was CANCER, i HAVE HAD THREE OPERATIONS after the first two did not get all

  of the cancer,I had to have the whole of my right breast removed,this has been a very harrowing time for me,but I hAVE HAD WONDERFUL SUPPORT FROM MY FAMILY & FRIENDS.  however I am having terriable burning pain under my arm, also sharp pains down where my breast was.   I go to see my Oncologist to-morrow,I am looking forward to hearing what he can suggest to  help me.  Also if anyone can tell me what has helped then.                             Thanks Lea

  Hi Lea.
  Gosh that is very tough to lose your husband then face breast cancer and three operations - all in the last six months. Fantastic you've had loving support from your family & friends, but not surprising to hear it's been very harrowing! Very very hard to get through - we're sending loads of love & warm hugs to you.
  The discomfort under your arm is very likely a consequence of axillary lymph node surgery - which I'm sure you would also have had. There have been a few ladies commenting on similar concerns here - and further information posted about that .. see in 'Q&A' section of the FORUM or via link http://www.breastcancerclick.com.au/forums/topic/261/pain-after-axillary-clearance Hope you find some useful information.

  Hi Lea - I'm Leone, had 2 surgeries in March - 2nd one was left breast mastectomy. I found rubbing aloe Vera gel on my arm (not the scar) helped take the edge off the burn. Your skin is stretched from swelling inside, nerves which may have been cut/damaged are also trying to heal. I'm sorry to say it just takes time but each day will get better. Do your exercises - I programmed 3 times a day for an alarm to go off on my mobile phone so I didn't forget. I had 4 lots of chemo and am in week 4 of radiation - 1more week to go. Try and take someone with you tomorrow - 2 sets of ears are better than 1- write down any questions you have tonight as you will forget tomorrow once your oncologist starts telling you about your results. It's great you have found this site - you will get lots of tips and support from others just like you. Good luck for tomorrow - I'm happy to talk to you anytime

  Married 48yo 2 boys 23 and 27, lumpectomy then LB mastectomy 19/3/2013 invasive DCIS 75mm and 3mm tumours no node involvement- grade 2 stage 2 - just started chemo - 4 over 12 weeks taxel and cytosphos, radiation 5 weeks later. Finished chemo 5/7 - bald and puffy but I'm still here. Radiotherapy starts 26/8. Hair is so grey but it's hair! Decided to have prophylactic mastectomy on 10th Dec - then I can start 2014 with all this behind me.

  Like Leone said, It sounds like the scaring has attached. I had the same for a bit. Ask the nurse to demonstrate exactly how rough you need to be with the massage to stop it happening. I was quite surprised.

  DX 31 March 2010 @ 40yo;
  2x lumpectomy (40mm), 20 nodes removed (14 crusty), ER+, Extensive DCIS, Grd2
  Radical new chemo (3xEpi;3xPlax;3xCyt), 25xrads,
  bilat skin sparing with immediat silicone recon, full hysterctomy.
  Initially on Tamoxifen, now on Exemestane.
