  I am starting chemo on 11 January 2013.  I thought I would put together a chemo survival bag that I can just grab at each appointment.  What do you think I should have in it?  I have been searching the web for all those nuggets of useful information but can't find very much.

  Lip Balm

  Puzzle book

  Water

  Sea sickness/Nausea band

   

  Umm... I didn't get very far did I?  Can you help me?

  40yo wife and mother to 9 yo daughter. Diagnosed October 2012. L mastectomy & SNB clear. R mastectomy 75cm high grade DCIS. R axillary clearance Grade 3 ductal carcinoma in 8 out of 12 lymph nodes. FEC Chemo starting 11 Jan 2013.

  Great idea Katy! Between us we should be able to produce a terrific 'chemo' bag!
  My sis took a 'chemo bag' when she had chemo, - some other things in there:
  Peppermint & Fruit chews
  Tissues
  iPod with relaxing music
  A really good book!
  
  Love to hear what others found good to have in the bag ...

  Some people comment that chewing ginger (crystallized) or drinking ginger ale helps with combating nausea. My sis tried it (had during and after chemo doses) and didn't feel it helped for her. Anyone found different? xx

  I guess I was blessed, I didn't get sick/nauseous during chemo sessions - just bored stiff!

  Haha Sue! I think that should take up the biggest space in the bag! Books, crochet, iPhone, best friend!

  Oh and a friend at work said to make sure I had plenty of sick bags because she got car sick on the way home every time. I didn't think of that!! Especially in someone else's car! Whoops!

  I did take my crochet the first time but they put the needle in my right hand so that took care of that! I found x-words not too good for the same reason. I managed to sleep a lot through mine. Katy not everyone gets sick. I didn't get sick during or on the ride home. You might want to check out my blog called 'White Knights' to find out how I got through it all. xx
