The Breast Surgery Gallery (BSG) refers to a service provided by the Specialist Breast Nurses in the Breast Clinic at Royal Perth Hospital, WA. The gallery is a series of photo images of women who have undergone breast surgery, including reconstruction surgery.
A BSG appointment provides an opportunity to discuss with an experienced Specialist Breast Nurse regarding any aspects of your surgery, and to look at before and after images of women who have had breast cancer or prophylactic breast surgery. We match the type of surgery that has been recommended for you and where possible match your age, bra size and ethnicity (race) enabling you to view "real life" results. Pre and post-operative expectations are also reviewed, and any other relevant aspects.
The BSG is a free service to women in WA diagnosed with breast cancer or those having prophylactic mastectomy. An appointment is required (usual days available are Mondays & Wednesdays), and takes approx. 1 hour. For women unable to attend an appointment, arrangement can be made to post images relevant to surgery planned .. however the opportunity for discussion is very limited, hence an appointment is preferred where possible.
Mostly these appointments have been requested by women or their team to discuss and review reconstruction surgery. NB: If considering reconstruction surgery, we do request the appointment to view images is scheduled for after review with the Surgeon (Plastic Surgeon or Breast Surgeon specialising in reconstruction techniques). This allows viewing of appropriate surgery options.
