  Hi all

  I found a lump in my left breast on 3 Feb, panicked and went to GP on Mon 6 Feb he ordered mammo and ultrasound. Had them done (urgently?) on 15 Feb, went back to GP on 17 Feb he sent report to SCGH. I read some of the report to my sister who's a Medical Technologist, she didn't say alot but by a few comments I could tell there was probably bad news coming. My Doctor told me it was probably just a cyst as I had some pain and that cancer doesn't normally hurt. Doctors need to be told that cancer does hurt!!!

  Anyway went to SCGH on 24 Feb for a Biopsy, only had to wait about 45 min for results, they told me it was cancer. Went back 6 March for full results, DCIS. Had to go back on 7 March for mammo on right breast and 9 March for biopsy on right breast.

  I ended up getting an MRI and seeing a Plastic Surgeon. I had mastectomy of left breast on 16 April, only 2 weeks ago. There's no lymph node involvement, am going back to SCGH on 1 May for full pathology. 

  It's all been a bit of a shock but will look forward later to getting a reconstruction.

  Great to hear it all wasn't more extensive aussie12, and hoping the final pathology confirms this. It is still such a shock though! Sounds like this is likely to mean you will not need any other treatments?? Look forward to hearing the final outcome .. and please don't hesitate to ask if there's anything you have queries about.

  Nothing in life really prepares us for the shock and fear that comes with this journey. Glad to hear that you have finished with the surgery and hope that your pathology is good news. Reconstruction isn't an option for me because the breast was compromised by previous treatment and implant insertion and then removal many years later. However I'm very OK with that decision and I am really glad that you have the option and are choosing to go with it. Hugs to you, Sue x

  The BC journey is a real roller coasters as you are discovering. It all moves so quickly once a diagnosis is made! Glad to hear no nodes are involved (I had 16 of 20 affected) Will keep all fingers crossed for a good pathology confirmation. Will be thinking of you!

  Hi
  I got pathology today, good news, no chemo or rads, just tamoxifen. Tumour was 50mm with 3mm of invasive inside. I've been lucky.

  45 YO, DCIS, 4.5 cms, Nodes clear, LB mastectomy, expander surgery Feb 13.

  Oh WOW... what fantastic news!! Gosh you must feel like you have had a massive weight lifted and are floating. So very happy for you xx

  Great to hear the news aussie12 - hope you get to check out the fact sheets on 'Hormone Therapies' (which includes Tamoxifen) and 'Reconstruction'. They're available in 'Documents' section. Would love to hear how you go with things from here - keep us posted! xx

  Hi all
  just an update, I've since had my expander surgery and my fills of saline. I'm just waiting now for my implant surgery and my nipple surgery if I want it. For those that go on chat you know what's been happening but I hadn't realised that I hadn't updated for over a year!!!
