Hi Sandy
I'm composing a 'fact sheet' that will be posted to the site soon to discuss chemotherapy and dealing with side-effects, so hopefully that will cover many aspects when having treatment.
Meanwhile the best 'quick tips' are:
1. eat small meals & snacks regularly
2. avoid hot, spicy, oily, greasy and very sweet foods as they may be upsetting
3. try casseroles, nutritious soups and stews.
4. try rinsing your mouth before eating with a recommended mouthwash or mix of bicarb soda and water to 'freshen' your mouth
5. Try milkshakes, smoothies or protein shakes
Many good tips on the net if you search 'chemotherapy and nutrition'.
Hair doesn't usually grow back on chemo. This does depend which type of chemo each person is having, though. With most breast cancer chemotherapy treatments, hair will not grow back until treatment is finished.
Sunburn is more of a concern as chemo increases skin sensitivity to the uv rays, therefore increasing likelihood of 'burning' to the skin. Taking good precautions such as wearing hat, sunscreen and protective clothing is very helpful to avoid burning when out in the sun. Also trying to avoid the 'peak' hours during the middle of the day when the sun is hottest helps.
I am sure many members would have some good diet tips from their experiences. Would love to hear some ..
