  Well I spoke to who I needed to so that Mum and Dad could get some help, now there is going to be a meeting at Mum and Dad's to sort a few things out. Isn't that what they needed/wanted? Mum is now freaking out because someone she doesn't really like, because she was nasty to her with a fairly good reason (all a long story) ... is going to be there. Now she thinks that she is going to be put in a nursing home.

  Mum feels like she is a bother, that no one wants her around. Dad is doing his best to be there to look after her but is freaked out about everything all the time, that will never change.

  Now I have to be there. Can't people do things without me for a change? Can't they sort it out? Can't Mum and Dad talk and make some decisions without me for once? I am always there 24/7 with no help from my brother or other family.

  I said to Mum if she don't want the help and didn't want them there she and Dad can tell them no and I won't say or do anything anymore but don't expect things to be any better. Grrrrrrrr!!!!

  Hey Adele - I was at a research conference last week that showed that Oz women in a particular age group (that I think your mum may fit into) have the "don't want to be a bother" approach to health! Perhaps you can talk to her about that - just because that is how they have been bought up doesn't mean she can't accept help???
  My mum is the same with her health - she wants me to make decisions for her because she sees 'our generation' as independant and self sufficient - perhaps that is the same for your folks????
